Alex von Tunzelmann was educated in Brighton and at University College, Oxford. She lives in London.
 
Indian Summer: The Secret History of the End of an Empire is her first book. It was published worldwide in summer 2007 to coincide with the 60th anniversary of independence from Britain in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
 
Alex writes an online weekly film column, Reel History, for The Guardian, writes travel pieces for Lonely Planet magazine, and contributes occasional opinion pieces to The Daily Beast. She has written for The Sunday Times Magazine, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Telegraph and Condé Nast Traveller, among other publications.
 
Alex is currently working on her second book, which is about the Cold War in the Caribbean.
